We feel pretty lucky around here...
We made it thru 2020 without getting sick from Covid-19. The raging, global pandemic changed our lives fundamentally, for sure, but we stayed relatively safe and healthy. We followed all the best advice that was floating around. We stayed home, we wore masks, we washed our hands, we kept our distance from pretty much everyone. It was not easy, not what we wanted to do, but we showed a bit of discipline and followed best practices. It was a weird year, no doubt. A year about what we gave up. Still, we feel pretty damn lucky.
Sitting here the first morning of 2021 we are also feeling a bit optimistic. Still have a roof over our heads, still eating well, still walking around on our beautiful blue planet. We will have a new President and Vice President of USA sworn in on January 20, 2021. And the Covid-19 vaccine is coming.
We look forward to getting the vaccine (here's hoping), and playing r&r shows again sometime in 2021. Is it possible? Don't know. But like they say, "Hope Dies Last."
How not to go crazy in these crazy times?
Not sure. But I think Hope helps. Having Dreams. Making plans (big & small). Thinking tomorrow might be better than today. But you know living every day like it counts. Because it does.
We try to infuse our days with meaning. A bit of magic and ritual. We have our essential tools: imagination, humor, laughter, music, poetry, day-dreaming, a lightness of touch. Don't judge life or human beings too harshly. Experience life. Ride the wave. Live in the moment. Don't look too far back, or too far forward. Employ a dose of that "wishful thinking." Try to stay "balanced," not too high, not too low. Keep a level head and keep our feet on the ground. But be determined too; not afraid to try, to think, to dream, to wish.
Light. Yes. Lean to the Light. Maybe Luck will ride with us for awhile more. Here's Hoping...
