Appearing and Fading Away!

Even as the day was rolling out, you could feel it evaporating, disappearing into the mists of time. The moment appearing & fading away. You wanted to hold the day close, but could feel it slipping away moment by moment. The sun setting in the West. Large green trees looming. A golden light suffusing everything. The two of you singing Hank Williams' songs to each other.

You could both feel it. A bond, a happiness, a love, laced with sadness, both of you knowing this moment was dying away even as it was happening. You actually said: "It doesn't get better than this..." You both knew it was true, and you thought of all the people you knew who were already long gone. Then you parted. Went your separate ways. Hoping you could have more good days together, knowing there are no guarantees.
