The HIlarity Phase...

What are the 5 stages of grief? Oh yeah. They didn't mention Hilarity. I just added it to the list.  Hilarity is the 6th stage. The Headline: Trump pick - Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. When I heard the news I broke into deep belly laughs. Yes. It was like the dam bursting. I just leapfrogged past all the other stages. Now I am in the land of Hilarity. I boldly step forward with a smile on my face and laughter in my heart.

If you don't know who Matt Gaetz is, well, I envy you. Google it for kicks. An appropriate nickname: Sleezy Creep. He is even loathed by his creepy colleages in the GOP, which if you think of it, is the safe harbor for scoundrels, cowards, rascists, and hollow characters of all stripes.

For the back-story and blow by blow of this latest fuckery, check out Heather Cox Richardson.

Looks like our new President-Elect really does want to destroy the USA from the inside out. His projected cabinet is not a a cabinet of curiosities, no, this will be a cabinet of hideous absurdities.

I do think the Orange Menance is now trolling all of us. He is a vengeful, deeply corrupt and corruptng force. What have the voters unleashed? Madness. Pure madness. I think this is really, really stupid, even for this supremely, stupid and stupid-making man.

Will Gaetz actually be confirmed? I doubt it, but who knows?! For sure the confirmation hearings should be a real circus and total shit-show. Maybe that's the point? So, yes, in the face of this idiocy, and bad intention, laughter is an appropriate response. It's a distancing thing. Sure, I am pained by the turn my country has taken, a turn to unreason, corruption, idiocy, retribution, but, you know, Human folly is a bottomless well.

And hubris. It will rise like the sun. Karma is a bitch. The Orange Menace will inevitably push too far, and then it will all will come crashing down to reality. At least that is my pitch and life-raft. I mean, I know my Shakespeare and MacBeth, Richard the III, and King Lear.

There is a joke to be found in there somewhere. Of course, it's a joke on all of us. In the meantime: Laughter rings out across the heartland.
