Live your life. As if your Life depended on it. Because, of course, it does.
Sunday (yesterday), was a good day. Long, leisurely morning. Reading, listening to music. Worked on our narration project, playing God don't you know?!
Blue skies & sunshine. A long bike ride. A "sit-down" at our sun-spot. A lazy, pointless, but agreeable conversation. Then a trip to one of our favorite Asian restaurants. Fabulous & delicious meal.
Then back home and watched John Huston's first movie "The Maltese Falcon." (1941). Gorgeous b&w film. Every scene vivid & essential. Bogart as Sam Spade.
Bogart is the the Devil himself in that black suit, vest, glittering watch-chain, shiny black buttons like burning coal. A hard-boiled character, edgy, brittle, hilarious. He's looking at the cold, hard reality of humanity. It's a wild carnival of needing, wanting, grasping.
So many great characters and lines. Not one wasted scene.
Then off to bed, reading Caleb Carr's "The Legend of Broken," (2013). I am about 200 pages in and it's clicking. A wild-ass fantasy, based on "reality." A lost civilization. The perfect novel for our times. So many resonances with the madness in USA today. It is feeding into my newly-honed misanthropy.
Anyway, a good day indeed. Feeding the head, the body, the soul.
