Funny. After a few minutes of head spinning, I just go to basic, survival mode: Fuck it. Reality is a hard teacher. Mother Nature is a mother. I had to laugh. The joke is on us. Funny. I reach for Coach Lombardi: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." A stupid cliche. But quite useful.
And, you know, it's always tough out there. Maybe we aren't really all that tough, but we are resiliant. Yes. Indeed. So yeah, FUBAR = "Fucked up Beyond All Recognition/Repair." That's living in the USA right now, baby. We really are in a fucked up country. No doubt.
How to deal with the deal? Carry on. Take the hit, keep on ticking. That's all we have. Damn the fucking torpedoes. Sometimes things don't work out, and as Henry Rollins once sang: "Sometimes happens all the time!"
Ha. There is a lesson there. What's the lesson? Suffering Deepens the Heart. Pain is a teacher. It's ennobling. Why do we look up to figures like Jesus, MLK Jr. Nelson Mandela, John Lewis? They suffered deeply for their "causes." And carried on despite the slings & arrows, the pricks & kicks.
Ha. So, in this mode, suffering is essential to being a fully-rounded, totally empathetic, human being. Yikes. How do you keep your head when everything crashes around you? That's the challenge of life. Fuck, I mean, you just have to laugh...
