Scientist & Poet...

Folk #1: Delve deeply enough into a subject, it could be headphones & sound waves, medicine & side-effects, human beings & their foibles, history & its lessons, or you know, pretty much anything that you decide to put your focus & attention on; you at first gradually, and then finally quickly, discover that every question you muster up, actually stirs up more questions, and less solid answers to hold close to your chest. You realize, there is scientific inquiry & poetic nuance & interpretation, to pretty much everything you investigate. You are both scientist and poet. You end up with piles of facts, & evidence, & if you are diligent enough to wade through it all, you are forced to make choices using your own poetic, instinctual abilities. And there are tradeoffs to be found at every turn. Coming up with definitive answers is a choice, an art; sort of arbitrary, tentative, it's a shaky, very human art. You then try to build your life on a series of serious choices, but, surprisingly, it's basically a castle made of sand.
