Detachment/Engagement...

If you are "cool," you are a bit detached from events in the world. Since the Wise Ones tell us that suffering (see the Buddha), is inevitable and built into the fabric of life, maybe a bit of healthy detachment is recommended? But, then again, how to do, or accomplish, anything? How do you make a mark? Do you grab the day by the collar and shake it? Is engagement, maybe even a passionate engagement,  necessary? How to navigate between a cool detachment and a passionate engagement? Aye, well, there's the rub.
