Hate-Filled, Vile & Racist! So?

I live in Illinois. I guess that makes me an  Illinoisan. Illinois is known as the Land of Lincoln, and the heart of America. I just discovered this morning that Illinois also has many other nicknames including "The Garden of the West," "The Sucker State," and "Egypt." Who knew?

Anyway, Dick Durbin, one of our U.S. Senators is a mild-mannered, bland, milquetoast, nebbishy kind of guy. He is not a glory-hog, not in the papers or on TV that often. He is in the news now because he was at the now infamous "Shit-Hole" meeting with our current "Racist in Chief."

Dick Durbin, described the Racist, Grab Them By the Pussy President and his language as: "Hate-Filled, Vile and Racist." Many of us, of course, are shocked, saddened, maddened, appalled, disgusted, by these comments.

For others amongst us, this no big deal.  Being hate-filled, vile and racist is a feature, not a bug. Thus, the crazy divide in our country. You may wonder how anyone can defend these comments.

I must remind you that you can find people to defend just about anyone and anything. There have been apologists and defenders of all kinds of bad actors and bad acts in the history of mankind. There were plenty of folks who defended Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Milosevic, Genghis Khan, Pol Pot, George Wallace.

Bad shit. Bad actors. Defenders defending the indefensible.  Common. Yes, for some folks a feature not a bug. For the rest of us, a pesky, unwanted bug that should be called out, isolated, and swept out of office at the earliest possible opportunity!
