Less "Great Men" Please!

Unfortunately, this quote never, ever grows old or out of date:

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." Lord Acton, in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887.

And often those "great men," are only great in their own fevered, ego-saturated heads. We need less concentrated power, fewer "great" men, more humility, more grace & more compassion.

Give me a humble monk like the Dalai Lama any old day. Interesting times. The "great men" in industry, politics, entertainment are being exposed daily for their "absolute corruption." Maybe in these crazy days there is a necessary cleansing happening. One can only hope.
