Entering the Corrupt & Stupid Era...

Went to a gathering of folks. Lots of food and chatter. No one talked about the debacle of a few weeks ago. Not one soul ventured into that ugly terrain. It is now the subject we don't talk about. Too dark, too painful, too disturbing. And, of course, we are all exhausted by the trials and tribulations of the Toxic Clown.

We live in concentric circles of blue, in a decidedly, proudly blue state. We hope & believe that our state, our Governor, will stand tall for the America we want to continue to live in. We all still hold that torn & tattered, wispy little dream of an inclusive and loving America the Beautiful.

We now feel so out of step with the bigger picture. The focus is closer to home. How to keep our heads, how to help our friends, how to still be positive and hopeful knowing that that an unbound Master of Bad Shite will be conducting things in Washington D.C.?

My take: America is Broken. We are now entering the Corrupt & Stupid era of America. Can we survive 4 years of corruption and stupidity on steroids? Can we really keep our heads in the midst of a trash TV adminstration? Who knows?! 

I kept these thoughts to myself, no sense bringing the party to a halt. No sense being the existential downer. We ate good food, we laughed, we talked about everything else under the sun. Sure, it was like a collective whistling past the graveyard thing. Dancing and partying like in E.A. Poe's Masque of the Red Death.

Everyone in that room was smarter, more caring, more admirable than the folks who appear to be populating the coming shit-show. Fuck.  I mean, you know, what a world?!
