Sucking the Air Out of the Room...

Kevin Drum, long-time blogger. He is a sensible, hard to ruffle Human Being, who writes about politics, culture, economics, etc. I always check in with him. He usually has charts and data to back up what he writes about. He is usually, cool, calm and collected. Sometimes he's a bit dry and boring, but he always grounds his thoughts in reality. That is a rare thing in our hurly-burly, ball of confusion reality. Here he writes about the "Lunatic Fringe," and of course, it is clear and insightful.

It is amazing to me that vast swathes of the Human Herd are entertained and easily conned and misled by the Loud, Shameless, Ignorant, Racist, Flame-throwers. Angry voices desperate for attention, always promoting crazy-ass conspiracies, ripping down straw-man liberals and progressives. It's all so soul-killing, contrary to Intelligent Discourse. Wrong-headed and ridiculous too.  As they say, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." Those Mad Lunatics are sucking the air out of the room, killing brain cells with every raging, hateful, flailing, word. Yikes!
