Some days the news is so disturbing, so troubling, so mystifying...
...makes you want to stuff up your ears, blindfold yourself, put on a droopy hat, wrap a long black garment around your body, cross your heart, cross your fingers, and hum lullabyes to yourself.
One thing (among many) I learned from reading "Anam Cara," John O'Donohue's great book, was how to think about, imagine, and talk about "the Soul." We all have a soul. We all need a Anam Cara, a "Soul Friend" in order to have a fulfilled, meaningful life.
What's really cool... our Soul Friend can be our Soul...
And what is a Soul? A home. A place of deep solitude. A place of grace, beauty & innocence. It is where creativity and hope resides. The soul is bigger than our bodies. It engulfs and envelops us. It's like a bubble around us and it extends out to meet the Universe.
So, from time to time, it's good to sink into your Soul. To detach a bit from the world. To heal yourself with Silence, to heal yourself with the deep untouchable Solitude. It is where you go to be renewed & reborn. A place where you discover that Love, Hope, Peace, Grace, and Beauty reside deep inside you. An inexhaustiable resource. Thank You John O'Donohue for the language & the road map to figuring out how to imagine it.
