A Fable, A Myth for the Outsiders...

My partner and I saw this beautiful Guillermo del Toro film over the weekend. We came out of the theater totally enthralled and satisfied. A work of art. I would call it a compelling fable, or myth, a "watery Beauty & the Beast." Powerful, funny, touching. We also thought it is a story about people like us.

It's a story of the Misfits. Those Who Don't Belong. The Outsiders. The Poets. The Artists. Those who are ignored or bullied by the Powers That Be.

How to live? How to survive in a world where Power & Money rule? What is the trick? To find like-minded Souls. To find those on the margins who are choosing another way. To See. To Love. To Know. To embrace those who are different from us. To celebrate our differences, our quirks, our weaknesses. Those are also our strengths. There is strength in differences. There is beauty and power there too.
